Rise & shine has come from a lazy monday morning. I’m sure, like me, having a coffee in the morning at the start of the week feels like a necessity. This piece is a mini homage to that morning ritual.

To add to the challenge of this painting, I have created this using a limited palette of just four colours; yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, raw umber and alizarin crimson. This meant that the key focal point to this was tone, especially when considering the light and shade on a white mug.
